For the ones who can't read yet
The colours do the reading.
While the story is read aloud, the word being spoken is underlined. Key words wear a colour — and the door with that colour is the one that goes there. A four-year-old hears “humming”, sees the gold word light up, and finds the gold door on her own.

Personal Voice
Mutt can read in your voice.
Record about fifteen minutes once, in iOS. Every story after that is read in your voice — on the nights you are working late, or on a plane, or in the next room.
Set it up once in iOS Settings — it takes an evening. Prefer not to? There is a warm built-in voice, one tap away.
The shelf
Every night becomes a book.
Finished stories keep their covers and can be reread any night. Open one in the middle and take the other door — the ⑂ marks the ones your kid has already asked “what if?” about.
A week of stories is about four books. They stay on the phone forever, and you can export any of them as pages for the family group chat.
Reasonable questions.
What ages is it for?
Two to ten. You pick a band at setup — Little, Middle or Big — and it sets the vocabulary, the sentence length and how many pages a night runs to. You can change it any time; nobody gets a reading level they can fail.
Isn’t this just more screen time?
It is ten minutes of dark screen with about ninety words a page, and it ends on its own. No autoplay, no next episode, no streak to keep. Read it aloud together and it is closer to a book than a screen.
Which iPhones work?
iPhone 15 Pro and newer, running iOS 27. The first launch downloads about 2.2 GB, once — after that it works with no connection at all, which matters more in a cottage or on a plane than it sounds.
What if they ask for one more?
There isn’t one. A story runs to its own ending and the app has nowhere else to go — the shelf is for rereading tomorrow, not for starting a second tonight. The negotiation happens with the app, not with you.
Can it write something upsetting?
The model is constrained to bedtime: no peril past a wobble, no villains, nothing that ends unresolved. Every story lands soft. If a page ever misses, hold it down and tell it to try again.
Two kids, one phone?
Add both names at setup and they appear in the story together, or keep separate shelves — one each, with their own age band.
